We don’t normally do truck detailing for FedEx Freight, one of our Denver truck washing clients.
But they needed to get a couple of their trucks extra clean for the 2012 National Truck Driving Championship. These were two of their regular route trucks so they had the normal road grime. And they had a lot of bugs!
This show was to take take place in early summer when the bugs can be very heavy. Over the road tractors and trailers run thousands of miles every week and the bugs can really build up.
We took a ladder and some mitts to make sure we could get all the bugs off the fairings on top of the cabs. We climbed up and put some elbow grease into making these tractors shine.
These fairings are mounted on the top of the tractor cabs to make the air flow around the trailers. It makes the whole tractor trailer combination much more aerodynamic and fuel efficient.
They also had us clean up a couple of the converter dollies. These are sometimes called just dollies or just converters. They’re the pieces of equipment that are used to attach the second trailer to the pintle hook hitch on the back of the tractor or lead trailer.
FedEx Freight runs double and triple trailer combinations over the road between cities. Then when they get to the city, they split the trailers to make the deliveries.
And one of FedEx Freight’s drivers, Don Logan, was the 2012 winner.
Give us a call if you need some special truck washing or truck detailing.
