It can be easy to forget about the safety issues involved in a pressure washing and truck wash company. You start thinking that you’re just spraying water when washing trucks, cars, sidewalks, etc. But even the most environmentally safe soaps can be an irritant if they get splashed in your eyes. Aluminum brightener and corrosives like the ones referenced in the truck wash article above are much stronger and often require breathing masks and gloves in addition to eye protection.

And other injuries can happen, even when you’re careful. One of our employees pulled a tendon in his forearm while scrubbing a trailer at one of our truck wash clients – and he has been doing this for five years.

Safety meetings are an important part of running any company safely. And they’re usually required by the Workers Compensation Insurance company. They serve as a reminder to all employees that a short moment of inattention can have serious consequences.

We want our truck wash employees to work as safely as possible. Injuries are costly both to the company and the employee who can’t work. Even when the Workers Compensation Insurance covers all the bills, the employee will still usually lose a few days pay.

So if you hire a little truck wash or pressure wash company that isn’t fully insured and someone gets hurt on your property, you may find yourself in a sticky situation. Some employees don’t think about their employer not having Workers Compensation Insurance – until they get hurt. Then they start looking for someone to pay the bills and your own insurance company has the deepest pockets.

Something to think about when you’re considering going with the lowest bidder.
