A property manager called us last week when the pressure washing company he had been using didn’t show up.

Pressure washing for an inspection when the other company didn’t show up

He had a restaurant that was supposed to be cleaned that day and the other company hadn’t showed up or called him. He was pretty angry and didn’t understand how they could treat their clients that way.

It’s unfortunate this happens. But – more unfortunately – it’s not a rare occurrence in this business. Too many people who start pressure washing companies do it just because they enjoy the work and want to run their own business.

But every business has to have some simple business skills if its going to survive. This is why less than 10% of all companies last more than five years. The percentage that make it to ten years is much less than that. A company like ours that has been growing steadily for 28 years has to be doing something right.

And one of the most basic business skills is scheduling your work. If you can’t do that, you’re wasting your time. If you expect your clients to call you back, you have to show up when you say you will.

If you can’t even do that, how do you expect them to believe you will be able to do the work the right way? Not showing up on schedule shows a lack of respect for them as a client – and also as a person.

We have thousands of jobs to keep scheduled and we don’t miss any of them. It’s the major focus of our company to take care of our client’s needs first. Isn’t that what a business is for? If you don’t take care of your clients, pretty soon you won’t have to.

We spend thousands of dollars every year to keep our scheduling software and computer network up to date. There are a lot of expenses involved in running a company but this isn’t one you can afford to skimp on.

The property manager that called needed us to come out that day and get the restaurant cleaned for an inspection – and we adjusted our schedule to take care of him. You can bet he will call us in the future.

And if anyone asks him which pressure washing company to call, which one do you think he will recommend?
