Pressure washing can’t be done unless the temperatures stay warm long enough to get the work done.

Denver Pressure Washing In This Winter Cold

The Denver metro area has been through a cold snap for most of the past 11 days. In those 11 days, we’ve only been able to do pressure washing one day – this past Saturday.  And that day was too cold to wash cars.  We washed several trucking accounts in the 2-3 hours above freezing that we had, but the trucks all ended up with at least some ice on them, especially on the shady sides.

We’ve been able to work some of our guys a couple of those 11 days in the shop fixing and maintaining equipment, but for the rest of our guys, the cold snap outside is making for a thin stretch in their pockets.  This means when the weather does break, they’ll be ready to get back to work fast and furious.

The next problem we’ll deal with is that all the car dealership’s cars have been collecting dust and dirt in between two snowstorms for most of two weeks. There will be no way our crews can get the cars cleaned up to our normal standards with a regular wash, but we won’t have time to give them a full deluxe wash either.  It’s a catch 22 that we face at least a couple times every winter and there is no solution that makes everyone happy.

However, we will do our best over the next few days of warmth to get to as many of our customers as possible to at least give their cars a basic wash and make them look a little better.  For the dealerships that are willing to pay for it, we’ll do a deluxe wash on their front or main lots, but not on any back or side lots until we’ve done something for all our customers.  It’s a balancing act between making each customer happy and keeping all our customers happy.

Our Quality Managers will be busy making sure that balance is met as much as possible.

Some customers will need more of an explanation for what pressure washing services we can offer than our team leaders will be able to provide.  Our QM’s will also be checking on the conditions of the vehicles at each lot and the results of the wash our crews provide to make sure the dealership managers understand what they’re getting for what they’re paying.

These winter stretches of cold and snow are one of the hardest parts of Denver pressure washing.

It’s difficult as a company and for our guys individually to plan financially for weeks without income.  It’s difficult to explain to customers why we can only do so much for them for the price they are paying.  They don’t feel the effects of the weather are their problem, but we can’t spend twice as much time for the same price to give them the clean they’ve come to expect.  It’s difficult to convince our crews to move at a regular wash speed instead of the slower deluxe wash speed because they can’t stand leaving behind cars that don’t look up to par.

But difficult isn’t the same as impossible.

Wash On Wheels has played this balancing act for nearly 28 years.  Although the next week or so of warmth is going to be a long stretch of hard work for our guys and sometimes delicate negotiating work for our managers, we know it will soon enough be back to ‘normal’ for us and our customers.  Anticipating and preparing for times like this is one of the many reasons Wash On Wheels is know for our long-standing top-notch customer service.
