This video shows the multi-step process for decal removal on vinyl stickers that have been on the vehicle for a long time.

Old Vinyl Decal Before Removal

Old Vinyl Decal Before Removal

When they weather and crack, the decal removal process is much harder without damaging the paint underneath.

From the video:

“What we have here is a unit where we’re going to remove the decal. And if you can get a close-up look, you’ll see this decal has been on here for a long time.”

“So these are a little bit harder to do then your normal decal. It has all the cracks, which means it’s dried up. So the normal removal of vinyl is not going to be able to be done on this unit right here, because it’s so dry.”

“We’ll walk to the back and look at one that I’m working on and one that has come off. This is what it looks like at first, ok with all the vinyl removed.”

“And the paint is not harmed – no harm done to the paint, ok. And here’s half of one right here where half is removed. We’re working on the other half right now.”

“This right here is completely done, no harm to the paint. This one here done, no harm to the paint. And that is with a sticker that is about five years old.”

Decal removal must be done the right way to prevent damage to the underlying surface. If you don’t know what you’re doing, its very easy to ruin the paint.
