Cleaning 750 Train Windows On The Denver Post’s Annual Train To Cheyenne Frontier Days

Denver Post Train To Cheyenne Frontier Days

Every year since 1908 (except for 22 years from 1970-1992) The Denver Post has sponsored a train that runs from Denver to Cheyenne Frontier Days. It comes in late Thursday night and the passengers start boarding early Saturday morning. This year, they boarded at Coors Field since Union Station is closed for repairs.

So there’s only one day for the special train to get ready for the trip. Every year for more than ten years, they’ve called Wash On Wheels to make sure the windows get cleaned on time.

Our crew starts as early as possible to get it done before the temperatures really start climbing. The train is outside and the metal gets burning hot in Denver’s summer sun!

This year we had a crew of seven start at four in the morning to get it done.  Its hard enough to clean 750 windows without the sun drying them before you have a chance to wipe the dirt off. So we use a special procedure we developed from our experience with cleaning so many different kinds of surfaces.

And we’re working in the dirt train yard on ladders. We clean all 750 windows – including the dome windows – inside and out. And there’s no water available so we have to bring enough to get the job done. Here’s a letter of thanks from Carol Cline, Manager, Events & Sponsorships, who makes the whole shebang happen every year.

Sounds like our kind of job –

– special procedure, no water available, start at dark thirty to get it done before it’s too hot, and only one chance to get it right. No “we’re late, somebody called in sick, our truck broke down”.  No excuses, period.

Call us if you have a special job you need to get done right.
